Chapin Homeschool Resource Center

Meet our Teachers
We all Homeschool for a variety of reasons but it's important to know that you are not alone as you make the best decisions for your child. The Chapin Homeschool Resource Center is a place where you can get the support you need; whether it's one subject or multiple. We are not a school, more like a diverse family who is here to help!

Owner of Whole Arted Studio, I have been teaching Art around 18 years in various settings. Resident of Chapin, homeschool mom for the last four years, and an avid gardener. Love sharing my passion for art and history with my students.

Beka Anderson
English & Co-Admin. of CHRC
I am a wife to my best friend, Scott, and a mom to our two wonderful children, Wesley and Georgia. We moved here to Chapin nearly six years ago from California and haven’t looked back. I earned my BA in English literature in 2006 from a small private Christian college and went on to earn my teaching credentials in 2008. I have worked in the public school system as well as in the private school sector for several years. I have taught at homeschool organizations, substitute taught, and have served on PTO boards, so I have seen a lot! Three years ago, I left public education to homeschool my own children and have enjoyed all the extra time I have had with them. I look forward to teaching and guiding your student this year.

Amy Kimmy
Pre-Algebra & Consumer Math
Hello! My name is Amy Kimmy and I am married to my best friend, Ryan. We have been homeschooling parents of four children for the past five years. I have two Bachelor’s of Science degrees: one in Human Resources Management and one in Sports Management, and a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. My love for teaching began while serving 8+ years in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Electrician’s Mate, where I helped train students in operations of nuclear power plants onboard submarines and aircraft carriers. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, gardening, and playing tennis. I also love watching my children perform all of their extra-curricular activities. My husband and I coach a homeschool archery team as well. GO FREEDOM ARCHERS!

Lisa Baghdady
English IV
As a born and bred South Carolinian, I wish to say, “Howdy, y’all!” I can’t believe I’m completing my 28th year of homeschooling! The Lord has indeed blessed this incredible journey above and beyond anything I would have imagined! I have three engineering graduates from Clemson, one business grad from Lander, and one currently completing a degree in Exercise Science at USC. All are very successful in their fields of study with three, thus far, obtaining post-graduate degrees.
I obtained my B.A. in Journalism and then a Master of Arts in Teaching (Second English Education) from USC back in the early 90’s and was one of the founding teachers at Dutch Fork High School, where I taught high school English and established a Journalism program. Upon the birth of our third child, I came home to fulfill my greatest, yet most challenging calling, that as a homeschooling mom. A dear friend and I started DFHRC, now CHRC, many moons ago, and I am excited to see it continue to serve the homeschooling community under new leadership.

I am a widower; my wife (Kathleen) of 50 years died in 2020. I have three children who are all married and seven grandchildren, from ages of 3 to 21. I live in Irmo with my youngest son and his family, who are expecting a second child, my eight grandchild, this summer.

Birgit McDade
Biology, Chemistry, Physics
I am a retired civil engineer. I have taught math and science at the Middle and High School level as a tutor, in co-ops, and at the Dutch Fork (now Chapin) Homeschool Resource Center. I enjoy teaching science as it is about discovering God's fingerprints in creation. I am married and have three grown children. I enjoy reading, walking my dog, and Bible Study.

Jennifer Babb
Health: Fitness & Nutrition and General Science
I am a homeschool mom, small-scale homesteader, fitness instructor, and nurse of 18 years. About three and a half years ago, I left traditional medical nursing and began a private practice as a faith-based board-certified nurse coach to focus on educating, supporting, and coaching people in True health, healing, and wholeness as the Lord outlines in His Word. My entire lifestyle has shifted as a result of pursuing this path, and I have enjoyed the way the Lord has begun to intertwine my lifestyle into my business and homeschool journey! I see science, nutrition, health, and fitness through a very different and life-giving lens now and have a passion to educate our next generations in a way that cultivates True health and vibrancy!
